Short Bio: Arend started singing at the age of 7, switched to trombone at 12, playing in a local brass band, and when he was 16 he spend more time playing in 7 local bands than he did at school. Graduated at the Hilversum conservatory in 1990.
Apart from Soul Vaccination he has played with several orchestra’s such as Fluidtekruid, New Metronome Bigband, Cuby and the Blizzards, Glenn Miller Orchestra (for Europe), Aces of Syncopation, Andor’s Jazzband and many more. Since 1997 he plays the tuba too.

Has made about 40 recordings with all bands mentioned and more and does studio gigs regularly.

Teaches trombone lessons and improvisation at Parnas school of arts in Leeuwarden, his place of birth (1961) and is leader of two bigbands.

Greatest auditional event: The first crying of my daughter Elke-Britta in august 2002.

Greatest musical experience: Playing as a stand in with the Glenn Miller Orchestra at the
‘Wiener Philharmoniker’.
